If you’re
an avid CorelDraw user and illustrator, there is an interesting issue that
reoccurs for some users when they open certain eps vector files that were
redrawn in Adobe Illustrator. Instead of the gradient appearing like the clear
gradient colorful image on the left, it appears "not correct" and might
look more like the unsatisfactory image on the right. In this blog post Eagle Digitizing will explore this
issue and how to ensure it won't happen to you.
Did that
happen to you?
If you've
ever ordered a vector file in EPS format and then viewed it in CorelDraw, you
might be surprised to find that the image looks jagged and blurry like a
low-resolution jpeg. Sometimes, the CorelDraw program treats gradients as
low-resolution image clips rather than raw vector images.
Why is
that?
This may
be due to the fact that certain effects used in Adobe Illustrator do not
translate easily in CorelDraw.
For all
EPS vector file orders, Ignition Drawing will redraw vector graphics natively
using Adobe Illustrator.
EPS files
do have the flexibility to open using different vector programs. Unfortunately,
sometimes certain features or effects redrawn in Adobe Illustrator may look
jagged when opened in CorelDraw, just like raster images.
What can
you do about it?
As a
precaution, if you have an image that needs to be redrawn as a vector and has
gradients or shaded areas, there are two solutions:
When
ordering, you can request the CorelDraw file, or You can add a note to the
order that you wish to redraw the vector in CorelDraw (not Adobe Illustrator)
and then save it as an EPS file.
